WEC 2019 Theme
Is missions only going to a foreign field and sharing the gospel in a new language with those who have never heard? Is missions just talking about Jesus with those you encounter? Those things are good.
They are important. They are a huge part of what missions is about. But there is more!
This year’s WEC is all about that. Missions is more than what we often perceive it to be. Instead missions is accomplished in various ways addressing various needs of the entire person. It is Wholly.
Meeting spiritual needs is so important, but missions is more than spiritual needs. Missions is about meeting physical needs, psychological needs, educational needs, as well as the spiritual stuff such as discipleship and evangelism. It is a wholistic approach focusing on the entire need instead of limiting missions to one area.
WHOLLY. To meet the needs of others wholly. To share Jesus wholly. To love others wholly. Because missions is about meeting all needs of all people everywhere. Whether you’re halfway around the world or in your own neighborhood, missions is about being the salt and light wholly.
Micah 6:8 is the theme verse which says,
“He has told you, 0 man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
The theme is rooted in scripture and the reality that Jesus calls us to both love and train up in faith. (Matthew 22:36-40, and Matthew 28: 19-20). Without both elements, focusing on only one is not going to be effective in any area of the Christian walk. That is why WHOLLY is the theme. It is evangelizing and discipling in partnership with meeting other needs. Micah 6:8 brings it all together with the elements of justice, love kindness, and a humble walk.
Join us at the 2019 World Evangelization Conference and learn about how missions is more than what we thought. Missions happens in all kinds of places in all kinds of ways to all people. WHOLLY.
